European Projects

The International Projects Office (OPI)https://opi.usal.es/, serves as the point of contact at the University of Salamanca for various European programmes, including the following notable programmes for the current fiscal period (2014-2020):

Horizon 2020. The European Union framework programme for research and innovation with nearly €80.000 million to fund research, technology development, demonstration and innovation projects which demonstrate a clear European value-add. It is built around three pillars (Excellent Science, Industrial Leadership and Societal Challenges) and is completed with other actions from the Joint Research Centre, the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, and transversal actions dedicated to bring science closer to society.

The OPE offers advisory services for developing proposals for each of the pillars of Horizon 2020, , including satellite instruments such as EIP (European Innovation Partnerships) and JPI (Joint Programme Initiatives).

Erasmus+. The EU programme for education, training, youth and sport. In addition to mobility opportunities (led by the Service for International Relations), there is the possibility of presenting project proposals for Key Action 2 (KA2) ) with the assistance of OPE. . KA2 focuses on cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices, and finances actions which have a lasting and positive effect on the participating institutions, as well as an impact on the persons involved. The majority of the centralised actions are managed by EACEA, the Education Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency, located in Brussels: Alliances for Knowledge, Alliances for Sectoral Competencies, Capacity building in the field of youth. Other types of actions, Strategic Associations, are decentralised National Agencies (in the case of Spain, the OAPEE, the Autonomous Organism for European Educational Programmes).

Creative Europe. The Creative Europe programme subsumes the former programmes of CULTURE, MEDIA AND MEDIA MUNDUS. The €1,460 million budget is earmarked to finance activities in the cultural and creative sectors, which contribute significantly to economic growth, employment, innovation and social cohesion. The ultimate goal of the programme consists of safeguarding and promoting cultural and linguistic diversity, and reinforcing competitiveness in the cultural and creative sectors. Some programme priorities in the present period are the development expansion of audiences, and the support of independent videogames.

EuropeAid. EuropeAid. The European Commission General Directorate of Development and Cooperation, called EuropeAid, is responsible for the development of EU policies and the provision of aid through programmes and projects throughout the world. EuropeAid publishes strong> specific calls and tenders /strong> cthrough which they intent to ensure the quality and effectiveness of European aid. The main fields in which they offer assistance are good governance, economic and human development, and the fight against universal problems such as hunger and the depletion of natural resources.
